Hey guys!
I'm writing to you from my sofa, in front of the 12th film of the weekend and finishing off yet another bag of crisps - yes, that's family size. I've just about managed to shrug off the growing urge to put up the Christmas decs, but I have a feeling I won't be able to hang on much longer! I am very much a 'Christmas only in December' girl, but this year might have cracked me.

I'd love to write that I was productive this weekend... that I went for a jog, ate the suggested amount of fruit and veg, had a fabulously funny group zoom call and made a banana bread that Mary Berry herself would be proud of. In actual fact, the only fruit I was anywhere near this weekend was the lemon wedge in my gin and let's just say, I'm more of an eater than a baker. My boyfriend George works weekends quite often, which I hope is due to his (rather impressive) work ethic and not that he's avoiding any quality (Christmas film) time with me. Let's be honest, it's probably the latter! Don't get me wrong, I wasn't a Bridget Jones style mess (Alexa play All By Myself), but they aren't the weekends we all hoped for in 2020, are they?
Instead of moping and whining into the tub of Celebrations, I did actually leave the flat. I wore a bra and everything, that's impressive for a lockdown Saturday... or any day to be fair. I walked with a friend through Ludlow to Csons cafe for a takeaway coffee and it just felt good to be chatting. Although our normal meetup is a glass (bottle) of wine and a takeaway, the outside coffee and catch up served the same purpose. We had a laugh, and a moan, and decided that we'd do it more often. As cringe as it is, and she will cringe, 2020 has taught us all it's not the place, it's the person!
The rest of my weekend consisted of making dinosaur shaped cookies for my nephew (harder than it looks) and watching Strictly. If you know me, you will know I am a super-fan and that George hates me for it. Lockdown or no lockdown, you will find me on a Saturday evening watching Craig criticise the dancers, alcoholic bev in hand, loving it. I could pretend I would have better plans if Covid allowed me to, but that just wouldn't be true.
Friday evening I was sulking with the idea of another weekend spent being grounded by Boris and right now, looking back, I guess it wasn't all that bad. This all depends on who gets voted out of Strictly, of course! I might not have gone for a run or been Instagram-worthy productive but hey, who is?
Write you soon,
Emma x
